I have been very invested in getting to understand the profound benefits of nature in our overall well-being. Nature played a very important role in the life of our ancestors, from food, to medicine, to spirituality to art, etc etc. At some point, we became disconnected from nature as a result of many factors. I’m trying to find that link back, personally, I grew up surrounded by it, so I know how happy nature makes me. As I already wrote here, my health took a wrong turn and I had to make some changes. A very important one was changing my art practice to one more earth-friendly and less toxic for me. In that process, it became less about the art and more about my connection with mother earth and I’m enjoying the learning process.

I try to go outside every day and take every inch of the sun I can. When working from home, I make time to take a break in my yard and just lay in the grass for a couple of minutes. On weekends, if the schedule permits, the beach or the nearest garden are at my top list. I do journaling, I read or write, in a space that feeds me immensely.

Living a lifestyle full of stress is exhausting and perhaps what matters is not the source of the stress but our ability to recover from it. Studies show that when people walk in nature, they obsess over negative thoughts much less than when they walk in the city.
